Halbleiter-Übergitter eignen sich hervorragend für das Studium der Physik von Elektronen im periodischen Potential. Semiconductor superlattices are an excellent tool to study the physics of electrons in a periodic potential. Vertical GaAs/AlGaAs superlattices were used to density modulate a 2-dimensional electron system (2DES), which was grown onto the cleaved edge of the vertical superlattice structure.
