Abstract

Magic ball: A spherical aggregate containing a core of 32 inorganic atoms (see structure) was prepared by coordination of a cyclo-P4 tantalum complex to copper(I) chloride. The phosphorus/copper core exhibits an arrangement of alternating four- and six-membered rings, which are reminiscent of the hypothetical Oh-symmetric fullerene C32.
