Abstract (English)

Biotin transport in E. coli was already observed in 1972. Results in this work demonstrate yigM is the gene encoding the E. coli biotin transporter. The protein has 10 predicited transmembrane domains and shows homology to members of the subfamiliy of carboxylate/amino acid/amine transporters. Biotin Aufnahme in E. coli konnte bereits 1972 gezeigt werden. Die Ergebnisse dieser Arbeit zeigen, dass das Gen yigM den E. coli Biotin-Transporter kodiert. Das Protein weist 10 vorhergesagte Transmebrandomänen auf und zeigt Homologie zu Mitgliedern der Unterfamilie der Carboxylat/ Aminosäure/ Amin-Transporter.
