Abstract

The three lowest excited states of crystalline [Ru(bpy)₃](CIO₄)₂ and their energies of 17605, 17614, and 17663 cm⁻¹ are identlfied by three zero-phonon lines in the emission spectra. A broad-band system and the zero-phonon lines show the same temperature dependence and belong to the same states. Each zero-phonon line is accompanied by a low-frequency progression of 36 cm⁻¹. Satellites due lo dlfferent intramolecular vlbrations are observed at T= 1.6 K and correspond to those Raman modes which are strongly resonance-enhanced.
