The reaction of benzylidenebutylamine with iso-PrMgI gave alpha -phenyl-alpha -butylamino-beta -methylpropane and small amts. of benzylbutylamine. In the presence of MnCl2, meso- and dl-N,N'-dibutyl-alpha ,alpha -diphenylethylenediamine were formed as further by-products.
