Abstract

The reaction of Et2NCHPhCN with Na in PhMe gave 39.2% Et2NCH2Ph, b16 85-7 Deg, and 44.6% Et2NCHPhCHPhNEt2 b0.4 140 Deg. Similarly prepd. were 38.7% Et2NCH2C6H4OMe-p, b15 126 Deg and 52.2% I, b0.3 180-6 Deg. The dimers could not be purified. In the open air I gave p,p'-deoxyanisoin. The compn. and spectral detn. of the impurities are discussed.
