Abstract (German)

In einer retrospektiven Studie der Abteilung für Mund-, Kiefer- und Gesichtchirurgie an der Universität Regensburg wurden im Rahmen eines Implantat-Recalls 76 Patienten mit 273 Implantaten klinisch nachuntersucht.
Die Implantate hatten bis dahin eine durchschnittliche Liegedauer von 2,6 Jahren und eine maximale Liegedauer von 54 Monaten (4,5 Jahre).
Es wurden klinische Parameter hinsichtlich Mundhygiene, Integrität des Implantats und der prothetischen Versorgung erhoben sowie ein Fragebogen zur Patientenzufriedenheit erstellt.
Die gemessenen Taschensondierungstiefen lagen zu 97 % im physiologischen Bereich (1-4 mm) und der durchschnittliche Knochenabbau lag bei -0,5 mm, was für eine gute Knochenintegrität am Astra Implantat spricht. Die Überlebensrate der Implantate lag nach 54 Monaten bei 98,5 %.
51 Patienten wurden mit festsitzendem und 25 Patienten mit herausnehmbarem Zahnersatz versorgt. Zum Ende des Untersuchungszeitraums waren an 9,5 % aller Einzelkronen und an 7% aller Brücken reversible Komplikationen aufgetreten. Die reine in situ Rate lag bei 100 %.
An den 29 herausnehmbaren Versorgungen traten insgesamt sechs reversible und drei irreversible Komplikationen (interner Schraubenbruch) auf. Dies entspricht einer Überlebensrate von 96,5 % und einer Komplikationsrate von 20,7 %.
Die Ergebnisse der Patientenbefragung sprechen für eine hohe Zufriedenheit: Durchschnittlich lag die subjektive Bewertung zu 93 % bei „gut“ bis „sehr gut“.
Zur Bewertung des objektiven Erfolgs wurden die Kriterien nach Jahn und d´Hoedt angewendet: Fünf explantierte Implantate und weitere 12 Implantate wurden als Misserfolg bewertet. Somit lag die Erfolgsrate bei 93,8 %.

Translation of the abstract (English)

In a retrospective investigation by the department of oral and maxillofacial surgery of the university of Regensburg 76 patients with 273 Astra Tech dental implants were examined within an implant-recall.
The implants had an average indwelling time? of 2,6 year and a maximum indwelling time of 54 month (4,5 years).
Clinical parameters of oral hygiene, integrity of the implant and prosthetic care were analysed and a questionnaire of patients satisfaction was created.
The pocket depths around the implant were whitin the physiological range (1-4 mm) and the average reduction of the bonelevel around the implant was -0,5 mm. That indicates a good bone integrity at the Astra Implant. The survival rate after a follow-up time of 54 months registered at 98,5 %.
51 patients were treated with fixed partial dentures and 25 patients with removable dentures. At the end of follow-up 9,5 % of the single crowns and 7 % of the the bridge constructions suffered from a reversible complication. The survival rate reached 100 %.
Six of the 29 removable dentures suffered from a reversible complication and three of them suffered from an irreversible compliation (internal screw fracture). The survival rate corresponds 96,5 % and the complication rate of 20,7 %.
The results of the patient survey show a high satisfaction rate: On average 93 % of the subjective rating was “good” or “very good”.
To measure the objecitve probability of success we followed the proposals of Jahn und d´Hoedt:
Five explanted and 12 further implants were counted as a failure. Accordingly the successrate was at 93,8 %.
