Abstract (English)

Simultaneous two- and four-point measurements are used to characterize the polymer bulk as well as the contact resistance of polypyrrole and polythiophene films.
Polythiophene films obtained were electrochemically and spectroelectrochemically characterized in aqueous and organic electrolytes.
Sensor chips containing not only four electrodes for resistance measurements, but additionally two electrodes which can be used as reference and counter electrodes, where used for electrochemical transistor design. Electrochemical transistors based on polyaniline were characterized in aqueous electrolytes. Additionally a polythiophene based electrochemical transistor was made using a gel electrolyte instead of an aqueous electrolyte. This quasi-solid state electrochemical transistor was used as gas sensor, allowing an electrochemical regeneration of the sensor after analyte exposure.
In electrochemical transistors not only the conducting film between the electrodes for resistance measurements, but also the gate (reference) electrode can be used as chemosensitive element. This was demonstrated by using an ion-selective electrode as gate electrode. A shift of the potential of the ion-selective electrode leads to changes in the resistance of the conducting polymer film between the electrodes for resistance measurements.
Layer-by-layer technique was shown to be an effective methode for fabrication of conducting polymer / metal nanoparticle composite materials. Immobilisation of gold and palladium nanoparticles in a polyaniline matrix was demonstrated. It was shown that the immobilized nanoparticles can work as receptors for specific analytes. Additionally the electrocatalytic properties of the immobilized palladium nanoparticels
towards hydrazine oxidation were demonstrated.
Conducting polymer / metal nanoparticle composites were also made by a dispersion of palladium nanoparticels in a PEDOT PSS solution. This dispersion has the advantage that it can be easily coated on almost any substrate. Films obtained from this solution were characterized and used in a chemoresistor for hydrazine and NADH.
Graphene is a new promising material for applications in chemical sensors. Graphene made by reduction of graphene oxide was characterized and its application in gas sensors was evaluated. Furthermore it was shown that modification of graphene by metal nanoparticles can change its sensitivity towards gaseous analytes. Combination of different modified sensors in an array should lead to an improved selectivity of such sensors.

SImultane 2-u. 4-Punkt Messungen wurden verwendet, um den Filmwiderstand sowie den Kontaktwiderstand von Polypyrrol- und Polythiophen-Filmen zu charakterisieren.
Polythiophene Filme wurden elektrochemisch und spektroelektrochemisch in wässrigen und organischen Elektrolyten charakterisiert.
Sensor-Chips, die nicht nur vier Elektroden für Widerstands-messungen, sondern zwei zusätzliche Elektroden als Referenz- und Gegenelektrode erhalten, wurden als elektrochemischer Transistor verwendet. Elektrochemische Transistoren auf Polyanilin-Basis wurden in wässrigen Elektrolyten charakterisiert. Zusätzlich wurde ein elektrochemischer Transistor auf Polythiophen-Basis hergestellt und ein Gel-Elektrolyt anstatt des wässrigen Elektrolyten verwendet.
Dieser quasi "Solid-state" elektrochemische Transistor wurde als Gas-Sensor verwendet, was die elektrochemische Regeneration dieses Sensors ermöglichte.
In elektrochemischen Transistoren kann auch die "gate" Elektrode als chemosensitives Element verwendet werden. Das wurde mit Hilfe einer ionen-selektiven Elektrode gezeigt.
Eine Potentialverschiebung der ionen-selektiven Elektrode führt zu Änderungen des Widerstandes des leitfähigen Polymer-Films.
Es wurde gezeigt, dass die "Layer-by-Layer Technik eine effektive Methode zur Herstellung von leitfähigen Polymer/ Metall-Nanopartikel-Verbundmaterialien ist. Gold- und Palladium-Nanopartikel wurden in einer Polyanilin-Matrix immobilisiert. Diese Partikel können als Rezeptor für spezifische Analyten dienen.
Leitfähige Polymer/Metall- Nanopartikel-Verbundmaterialien wurden auch durch Dispersion von Palladium-Nanopartikeln in einer PEDOT-PSS-Lösung hergestellt. Diese Dispersion hat den Vorteil, dass man damit fast alle Oberflächen beschichten kann.
Aus dieser Lösung erhaltene Filme wurden charakterisiert und als Chemoresistoren für Hydrazin und NADH verwendet.
Graphen ist ein viel versprechendes Material für Anwendungen in chemischen Sensoren. Graphen wurde durch Reduktion von Graphen-Oxid hergestellt, charakterisiert und die Anwendung in Gas-Sensoren evaluiert. Weiterhin wurde gezeigt, dass die Modifikation von Graphen mit metallischen Nanopartikeln zu Änderungen der Sensitivität gegenüber Gasen führt. Eine Kombination verschiedener modifizierter Sensoren zu einem Array sollte zu einer Verbesserung der Selektivität dieser Sensoren führen.
