Single-copy DNA sequences defining several pseudoautosomal loci on the human sex chromosomes are shown to be highly conserved in the genome of the chimpanzee. Segregation analysis of polymorphic pseudoautosomal probes in a chimpanzee pedigree revealed that the transmission of the paternal alleles was not strictly sex-linked.
