This thesis presents applications of visible light photoredox catalysis with organic dyes as photocatalyst for the oxidation of sulfur-containing compounds and the reduction of aryl halides. Chapter 1 summarizes recent developments in the field of photocatalytic oxidation of different anions and their application in organic synthesis.
