Abstract (English)

The eukaryotic initiation factor 2 (eIF2) is a protein complex which is conserved among all eukaryotes and has a homolog in archaea, called archaeal initiation factor 2 (aIF2). It fulfills essential functions in protein synthesis and is made up of three subunits (α, β and γ).
