Im Rahmen dieser Arbeit wurden die Zellanhänge von Ignicoccus hospitalis, die sogenannten Fibers, näher charakterisiert. Dabei konnte gezeigt werden, dass die Fibers Ähnlichkeiten zu bakteriellen Typ IV Pili aufweisen. Immunmarkierungsexperimente ermöglichten eine genaue Lokalisation des Hauptfiberproteins Iho670, welches sowohl in der äußeren, als auch in der cytoplasmatischen Membran ...

Translation of the abstract (English)

In this work the cell appendages of Ignicoccus hospitalis, the so called fibers, were analysed. It could be shown that the fibers exhibit resemblance to type IV pili of bacteria. Immunolabelling allowed a precise localisation of the main fiber protein, Iho670, which could be detected in the outer as well as in the cytoplasmic membrane.
