A collection of essays concerning risk management within the asset classes of stocks, bonds, and real estate. The first essay shows if (securitized) real estate is an effective hedge against deflation. For the second essay, a AR-GARCH-EVT-Copula model is implemented in order to show that especially real estate suffers from typical stylized facts that need to be addressed, in order to achieve correct price risk forecasts. The third essay highlights investor irrationality and show that the actual return an investor receives is lower compared to the return of the fund itself, especially during times of financial turmoil.
