Abführtees, die Drogen der Gattung Senna und/oder Rhamnus als Monodroge oder in Teemischungen enthalten, werden durch Überbrühen mit heißem Wasser extrahiert. Die Extraktionsbedingungen sind vergleichbar der Bereitung eines Arzneitees im Haushalt durch den Anwender. Entsprechend den Angaben in der Packungsbeilage dieser Arzneimittel werden die Extraktionszeit, die Extraktionstemperatur und die Menge des verwendeten Heißwassers variiert. Durch Verwendung handelsüblicher Fertigarzneimittel kommen unterschiedliche Drogeneinwaagen, unterschiedliche Zerkleinerungsgrade sowie teilweise vorextrahiertes ("entharztes") Drogenmaterial, sowohl in Filterbeuteln als auch lose, zur Untersuchung.
Die quantitative Bestimmung der Hydroxyanthracenderivate Sennosid A, B, A1, C, des Rhein-8-glucosides und der Glucofranguline A und B erfolgt mittels HPLC. Es wird diskutiert, ob die vorschriftsmäßig bereiteten Teeaufgüsse der Dosierungsempfehlung der Kommission E für Hydroxyanthracendrogen entsprechen.
Wäßrige Kaltmazerate von Sennesblättern sollen laut Literaturangaben frei von unverträglichen "Harzen" sein; es konnte gezeigt werden, daß sie - im Gegensatz zu den Heißwasseraufgüssen - kein Rhein-8-glucosid enthalten.

The active substances of laxative teas that contain drugs of the genus Senna and/or Rhamnus as mono-drug or in mixture were extracted by brewing with hot water. Translation of the abstract (English)

The active substances of laxative teas that contain drugs of the genus Senna and/or Rhamnus as mono-drug or in mixture were extracted by brewing with hot water. The conditions of extraction were comparable with the conditions obtaining when a medicinal tea is prepared in the household. Extraction time, extraction temperature, and the quantity of hot water employed for extraction were varied under laboratory conditions in accordance with the instructions for use enclosed in the packages of the examined ready-for-use commercial medicinal products. Different quantities of drug material and different degrees of shredding, both in loose form and in tea-bags, were examined. Partly pre-extracted ("de-resined") drug material also came under scrutiny.
The quantitative determination of the hydroxyanthracene derivatives: Sennosides A, B, A1, C, of the rhein-8-glucoside, and of the glucofrangulines A und B was effected by HPLC. It is discussed whether the tea infusions prepared according to package instructions meet the Commission E recommendations of dosage for hydroxyanthracene herbal drugs.
According to the literature, watery cold macerates of Senna leaves are supposed to be free of indigestible "resins"; it was shown that these macerates - in contrast to hot water infusions - do not contain any rhein-8-glucoside.
