Ausgangspunkt der Arbeit ist der Nachlaß des Verlegers Axel Springer, der zur Verwaltung drei Testamentsvollstrecker einsetzte.
Auf der Grundlage dieses Bezugsfalls werden die verschiedenen Anwendungsfälle für die Einsetzung einer Mehrheit von Testamentsvollstreckern dargestellt. Anhand der Durchführung der Verwaltung werden dann die Vor- und Nachteile dieses Modells aufgezeigt. So ermöglicht es auf der einen Seite die Verteilung von Aufgabenfeldern, die Bündelung des Sachverstands mehrerer und die Erzielung eines balance-of-power Effekts, auf der anderen Seite sind Meinungsverschiedenheiten zwischen den Mitvollstreckern vorprogrammiert. Deshalb sollte der Erblasser zumindest im Hinblick auf die wichtigsten vorhersehbaren Konfliktfelder Regelungen treffen, die im einzelnen in der Arbeit erörtert werden. Darüber hinaus besteht die Möglichkeit der einzelnen oder wechselseitigen Bevollmächtigung sowie der Einführung des Mehrheitsprinzips.
Im folgenden Kapitel wird die Kompetenz des Nachlaßgerichts bezüglich der Entscheidung von Meinungsverschiedenheiten innerhalb des Testamentsvollstreckergremiums genauer untersucht.
Ein weiteres zentrales Problemfeld der Untersuchung ist die Frage der Haftung im Innen- und Außenverhältnis.
Ausführlich wird die Frage der Vergütung der Testamentsvollstrecker erörtert, insbesondere die vorhandenen Lösungsvorschläge der Literatur diskutiert.
Darüber hinaus werden die rechtlichen Probleme bei Wegfall und Entlassung eines oder mehrerer Mitvollstrecker untersucht.

The thesis's case of reference is the estate of the famous german publisher Axel Springer, who appointed three executors to administrate his estate.
This case serves as basis for the presentation of the different constellations in which the appointment of several executors seems appropriate. The following examination concerning the leading of the administration shows the pros and cons of this instruction in the will. There is on one hand the possibility of distributing several competences, clustering various specialists and reaching a balance of power between the executors. On the other hand disagreements are predetermined. Therefore the testator should resolve at least the most evident cases of conflicts, which are discussed in detail in the thesis. Furthermore he can determine the principle of majority or appoint one or several executors as represantative for the others.
In the following chapter the role of the probate court is analyzed with regard to disagreements of the executors.
An other important point is the liability of the executors inwardly and outwardly.
The next chapter deals with the question of compensation.
Moreover are subjects of the thesis the dismissal or cessation of one of the executors and the consequences for the adminstration in practice.
