Abstract

Black single crystals of MnBiSe2I were obtained by the reaction of stoichiometric amounts of Mn, Bi, BiI3, and Se at 600 degrees C for 7 days. The compound crystallizes in the monoclinic system, space group C2/m, with a = 13.428(2), b = 4.112(1), c = 10.130(2) angstrom, beta = 90.97(2)*, and Z = 4.
