Abstract

Intrinsic photoconductivity of quasi-one-dimensional Ba[Pt(CN)₄]•4H₂O crystals sets in at a photon energy which is 0.5 eV higher than the onset of the strong absorption peak. This indicates for the absorption peak a transition to an excitonic state and not a band-to-band transition.
