Abstract

Four 4,3-R(R1)C6H3CEt:CEtC6H3(R2)R-3,4 (I, R = OH or CH2NMe2; R1 = H or R2; R2 = OH, CH2NMe2, CH2NMeCH2CH2NMe2), prepd. by reaction of the title dihydroxy-alpha ,beta -diethylstilbenes with Me2NCH2Cl or Me2NCH2CH2NMeCH2Cl, resp., had little in vitro antimicrobial effect and caused little inhibition of rat Yoshida sarcoma in vivo. Only 2 I (R = OH, R1 = H, R2 = CH2NMe2; R = OH, R1 = R2 = CH2NMe2) significantly inhibited the growth of mammary carcinoma in the rat.
