Reactions with alpha -aminonitriles. VIII. Mode of reaction of alpha -aminoacetonitriles and metallic sodium in liquid ammonia

Abstract

The reaction of ZCHPrC==N (Z = piperidino throughout this abs.) with Na in MePh gave ZCH2Pr, b15 64 Deg, and ZCHPrCHPrZ, where as in liq. NH3 only ZCH2Pr was obtained. The mechanism is discussed.
