Abstract (German)
Die vorliegende Dissertation „Addukte der Gruppe 11 Halogenide mit Phosphor- und Arsenchalkogeniden“ beschäftigt sich mit der Synthese und strukturellen Charakterisierung neuer anorganischer Materialien. Insgesamt werden 18 neue Verbindungen vorgestellt, die sich insbesondere dadurch auszeichnen, dass sie neutrale Moleküle, Polymere oder sogar Schichten von Elementen der 15. und 16. Gruppe enthalten. In den meisten Strukturen liegen diese jedoch nicht isoliert vor, sondern sind an neutrale Kupfer(I)- oder Gold(I)-halogenid-Einheiten gebunden. Aufgrund ihres Aufbaus aus zwei klar voneinander unterscheidbaren Teilstrukturen werden solche Verbindungen als "Addukte" oder "Nanokomposite" bezeichnet. Sie stellen ein Bindeglied zwischen klassischer Molekülchemie und Festkörperchemie dar.
Elf neue Kupfer(I)-halogenid-Addukte mit Phosphorchalkogeniden, Phosphorchalkogenidhalogeniden und Arsenchalkogeniden werden präsentiert. Sie eröffnen neue Einblicke in die ohnehin schon sehr umfangreiche Strukturchemie dieser Verbindungsklasse.
Bei den beiden Polymorphen a-(CuBr)(P4Se4) und b-(CuBr)(P4Se4) handelt es sich um Addukte aus neutralen catena-P4Se4-Strängen und Kupfer(I)-bromid. Analog zu binärem catena-P4Se4 sind die Stränge aus norbornananalogen P4Se3-Einheiten aufgebaut, die durch einzelne Selenatome zu 1D-Polymeren unterschiedlicher Konformation verknüpft werden. Während die Stränge der a-Form bereits aus (CuI)(catena-P4Se4) bekannt sind, stellen die Stränge der b-Form einen dritten, bisher noch unbekannten Typ dar. Es treten sehr unterschiedliche Kupfer(I)-bromid-Teilstrukturen auf. In a-(CuBr)(catena-P4Se4) besteht diese aus [Cu2Br2]-Rauten und in b-(CuBr)(catena-P4Se4) aus [CuBr]-Hanteln. Die Verknüpfung der Teilstrukturen führt in beiden Fällen zu einer 2D-Schichtstruktur.
Mit (CuI)(P4Q3I2) (Q = S, Se) werden die bis dato ersten Kupfer(I)-halogenid-Addukte mit Phosphorchalkogenidhalogeniden vorgestellt. Obwohl beide Verbindungen aus isostrukturellen P4Q3I2-Molekülen aufgebaut sind, werden verschiedene Strukturtypen mit unterschiedlichen Kupfer(I)-iodid-Teilstrukturen realisiert. Während die Moleküle in (CuI)(P4S3I2) an 1/∞[CuI]-Zickzack-Ketten koordinieren, beobachtet man in (CuI)(P4Se3I2) eine Koordination an rautenförmige [Cu2I2]-Einheiten. Dies führt in beiden Fällen zu einer 2D-Schichtstruktur.
Zum ersten Mal werden Kupfer(I)-halogenid-Addukte mit intakten, zu Realgar isostrukturellen As4Q4-Molekülen beschrieben. Frühere Untersuchungen, wonach ein Einbau dieser Moleküle in komplexere Strukturen mit Übergangsmetallen zu einer Fragmentierung führt, werden dadurch widerlegt. Wie die Röntgenstrukturanalysen und Raman-Spektren für (CuI)3(As4Q4)2 (Q = S, Se) zeigen, führt die Koordination an Kupfer(I)-iodid sogar zu einer Stabilisierung der Käfigmoleküle. Kürzere Arsen-Arsen-Bindungen und eine deutliche Blauverschiebung der As-As-Valenzschwingungen belegen dies. Die isotyp kristallisierenden Verbindungen weisen eine Lagefehlordnung für Kupfer auf, zu deren Beschreibung ver¬schiedene Strukturmodelle vorgestellt und diskutiert werden. In (CuI)3(As4Q4)2 bilden jeweils drei [CuI]-Hanteln ein [Cu3I3]-Trimer, das an die Chalkogenatome realgarartiger As4Q4-Moleküle koordiniert ist. Durch die Verknüpfung der beiden Teilstrukturen entstehen 1D-unendliche Stränge, die im Motiv einer tetragonalen Stabpackung angeordnet sind. Ein Austausch des Halogens (Iod gegen Brom) führt zur Bildung der 1:1 Addukte (CuBr)(As4Q4) (Q = S, Se). Obwohl beide Verbindungen wiederum aus realgarartigen As4Q4-Molekülen aufgebaut sind, weisen die Kristallstrukturen doch grundlegende Unterschiede auf. Während die Moleküle in (CuBr)(As4S4) an nahezu quadratische [Cu2Br2]-Einheiten koordinieren, beobachtet man in (CuBr)(As4Se4) eine Koordination an 1/∞[CuBr]-Spiralketten. Außerdem führt die Verknüpfung der beiden Teilstrukturen in (CuBr)(As4S4) zur Bildung von 1D-Polymeren, in (CuBr)(As4Se4) dagegen zur Bildung von 2D-Schichten. Eine absolute Ausnahme stellt das 3:1 Addukt (CuBr)3(As4Se4) dar. Im Gegensatz zu allen anderen Addukten koordinieren darin, neben Chalkogenatomen, erstmals auch Arsenatome der As4Q4-Moleküle an die Kupfer(I)-halogenid-Matrix. Letztere besteht aus je zwei 1/∞[CuBr]-Spiralketten, die durch [CuBr]-Hanteln zu einer Leiter verknüpft sind. Sofern die Darstellung der CuX-As4Q4-Addukte zu phasenreinen Produkten führte, wurden davon Festkörper-UV/VIS-Spektren aufgenommen. Die beobachteten Absorptionskanten liegen im Bereich zwischen 549 nm und 686 nm, was einer optischen Bandlücke von 2.26 eV bis 1.81 eV entspricht. Damit sind alle Verbindungen optische Halbleiter.
Im Rahmen dieser Arbeit wurden darüber hinaus auch lichtinduzierte Effekte in Verbindungen mit realgarartigen As4Q4-Molekülen untersucht. Die durchgeführten Belichtungsexperimente an den Addukten (CuI)3(As4S4)2, (CuI)3(As4Se4)2, (CuBr)(As4S4) und (HgI2)(As4S4) zeigen, dass die Packung der Moleküle und deren chemische Umgebung einen entscheidenden Einfluss auf das Belichtungsverhalten haben. So treten bei der Belichtung von (CuI)3(As4Q4)2 keinerlei Effekte auf, da die Koordination an die Kupfer(I)-iodid-Matrix zu einer Stabilisierung der r-Typ-As4Q4-Moleküle führt. In den beiden anderen untersuchten Addukten (CuBr)(As4S4) und (HgI2)(As4S4) sind die Wechselwirkungen zwischen den Teilstrukturen deutlich geringer. Dementsprechend kommt es in beiden Fällen zu lichtinduzierten strukturellen Veränderungen. Diese lassen sich mittels UV/VIS-Spektroskopie, Raman-Spektroskopie, sowie Röntgenpulver- und Röntgeneinkristalldiffraktometrie nachweisen.
Mit (CuI)(As2S3)2 und (CuI)2(As2Se3)3 werden erstmals Kupfer(I)-halogenid-Addukte vorgestellt, in denen die Pnikogenchalkogenide nicht als Moleküle oder Polymere, sondern als neutrale Schichten vorliegen. Diese sind analog zu den Schichten in Auripigment (As2S3) bzw. Laphamit (As2Se3) aus pyramidalen AsQ3-Einheiten aufgebaut, die über gemeinsame Chalkogenatome zu Zwölferringen kondensiert sind. Es treten zwei neue, bisher unbekannte Typen von Zwölferringen auf. Sowohl in (CuI)(As2S3)2 als auch in (CuI)2(As2Se3)3 werden jeweils zwei As2Q3-Schichten durch Kupfer(I)-iodid zu Doppelschichten verknüpft.
Darüber hinaus konnte mit (AuI)3(catena-P4Se5) eine neue Gold(I)-iodid-Adduktverbindung synthetisiert und kristallographisch charakterisiert werden. Ein wichtiges Strukturmerkmal sind neutrale catena-P4Se5-Stränge. Diese sind aus norbornananalogen P4Se3-Einheiten aufgebaut, deren Verknüpfung im Gegensatz zu catena-P4Se4 über Diselenbrücken erfolgt. Somit handelt es sich um das erste kristallographisch charakterisierte polymere Phosphorperselenid. Zwischen den Polymeren befindet sich Gold(I)-iodid in Form isolierter Hanteln. Relativ kurze Au-Au-Abstände (~3 Å) lassen aurophile Wechselwirkungen zwischen den d10-Ionen vermuten. Die Stränge koordinieren ausschließlich über Phosphoratome an Gold, dem dadurch eine lineare Koordination zukommt.
Mit AuPSe2 und CuAsSe2 werden zwei neue ternäre Münzmetallverbindungen mit ungewöhnlichen, bisher unbekannten, isostrukturellen 1/∞[PnSe2 1-]-Polyanionen (Pn = P, As) vorgestellt. Die ausführlichere Niggli-Schreibweise lautet 1/∞[PnSe2/2Se1/1 1-]. In AuPSe2 werden die parallel verlaufenden Polyanionen durch Au1+ zu 2D-Schichten verknüpft. Im Gegensatz dazu werden die Polyanionen in CuAsSe2 durch Cu1+ zu einem 3D-Netzwerk verknüpft. Obwohl die Strukturanalyse zweifelsfrei belegt, dass CuAsSe2 orthorhombisch, in der Raumgruppe Pca21 (Nr. 29) kristallisiert, besitzt das berechnete Pulverdiffraktogramm eine sehr große Ähnlichkeit zu „monoklinem“ CuAsSe2, das von Blachnik und Kurz publiziert wurde. Es besteht daher der Verdacht, dass das „monokline“ CuAsSe2 in Wirklichkeit orthorhombisch ist. Neben der kubischen und der hexagonalen Modifikation handelt es sich folglich um die dritte Modifikation von CuAsSe2.
Die vorliegende Arbeit liefert auch einen Beitrag zur Chemie der binären Phosphorsulfide und –polysulfide. Wie alle Phosphorsulfide ist g-P4S6 aus diskreten Molekülen aufgebaut. Die Molekülstruktur leitet sich vom P4-Tetraeder des weißen Phosphors ab, indem zusätzlich vier verbrückende und zwei terminale Schwefelatome eingeführt werden. Die Packung der Moleküle leitet sich von der kubisch-dichtesten Kugelpackung ab, was an einem Bärnighausen-Stammbaum verdeutlicht wird. Bei den Verbindungen a-P2S7 und b-P2S7 handelt es sich um die ersten kristallographisch charakterisierten Phosphorpolysulfide. Der Einsatz von wasserfreiem FeCl3 als Mineralisator stellt hierbei ein neues Synthesekonzept dar, um solche Verbindungen in kristalliner Form zu erhalten. Im Gegensatz zu den Phosphorsulfiden bestehen die Phosphorpolysulfide nicht aus Molekülen, sondern aus neutralen catena-P2S7-Strängen mit kovalenten S-S-Bindungen. Abgesehen von minimalen Unterschieden in den Bindungslängen und -winkeln, sind die Polymere in a-P2S7 und b-P2S7 identisch. Die Kristallstrukturen der beiden Polymorphe unterscheiden sich lediglich in der Packung der Polymere. Während a-P2S7 eine hexagonale Stabpackung aufweist, sind die Polymere in b-P2S7 im Motiv einer tetragonalen Stabpackung angeordnet. 31P-MAS-NMR-Untersuchungen bestätigen die Ergebnisse der Röntgeneinkristallstrukturanalysen.

The thesis „Adducts of Group 11 Halides with Phosphorus and Arsenic Chalcogenides“ deals with the synthesis and structural characterization of new inorganic materials. A total of 18 new compounds are presented, which have in common to consist of neutral molecules, polymers or even layers of group 15 and 16 elements. However, the latter are not isolated in most structures, but attached to neutral fragments of copper(I)- or gold(I)-halides. Due to their build-up of two clearly separated partial structures, these compounds are often termed as „adducts“ or „nanocomposites“. From a chemical point of view, they are located between classical molecular and solid state chemistry.
A total of 11 new copper(I)-halide adducts with phosphorus chalcogenides, phosphorus chalcogen halides and arsenic chalcogenides are presented. They allow a deeper insight in the already quite manifold structural chemistry of this class of compounds.
The polymorphs a-(CuBr)(P4Se4) and b-(CuBr)(P4Se4) are adducts of neutral catena-P4Se4 strands and copper(I)-bromide. In analogy to binary catena-P4Se4, the strands are composed of norbornananalogous P4Se3 units, which are connected by single selenium atoms to 1D polymers with different conformations. The strands in the a-modification are already known from (CuI)(catena-P4Se4), whereas the strands in the b-modification represent an hitherto unknown type. In addition, the respective copper(I)-bromide substructures differ a lot. There are [Cu2Br2]-rhombs in a-(CuBr)(P4Se4) and [CuBr]-dumbbells in b-(CuBr)(P4Se4). Nevertheless, in both cases the linkage of the partial structures leads to a 2D layer structure.
The compounds (CuI)(P4Q3I2) (Q = S, Se) are the hitherto first examples for copper(I)-halide adducts with phosphorus chalcogen halides. Though the adducts consist of isostructural P4Q3I2 molecules, different structure types with different copper(I)-halide substructures occur. While the molecules in (CuI)(P4S3I2) coordinate to 1/∞[CuI]-zigzag chains, they coordinate to rhomb-shaped [Cu2I2]-units in (CuI)(P4Se3I2). This results in a 2D layer structure in both compounds.
For the first time copper(I)-halide adducts with intact, realgar-like As4Q4 molecules are described. For this reason, earlier investigations, whereupon the embedding of these molecules in complex structures with transition metals leads to their fragmentation, could be disproved. The X-ray structure analyses and raman spectra of (CuI)3(As4Q4)2 (Q = S, Se) even show a stabilization of the cage molecules when attached to copper(I)-iodide. Shortened As-As bonds and a significant blue shift of the corresponding raman frequencies are a clear evidence for it. Apart from that, the isotypic compounds show a site disorder for copper, which is treated and discussed with different structural models. In (CuI)3(As4Q4)2 always three [CuI]-dumbbells form a [Cu3I3]-trimer, which is coordinated to chalcogen atoms of the realgar-like As4Q4 molecules. The linkage of the partial structures results in the formation of 1D strands, which are arranged in the motif of a tetragonal rod packing. The substitution of the halogen (iodine vs. bromine) leads to the formation of the 1:1 adducts (CuBr)(As4Q4) (Q = S, Se). Though both compounds are composed of realgar-like As4Q4 molecules as well, the crystal structures show major differences. While the molecules in (CuBr)(As4S4) coordinate to almost square-planar [Cu2Br2]-units, they coordinate to 1/∞[CuBr]-spiral chains in (CuBr)(As4Se4). Furthermore, the linkage of the partial structures results in 1D polymers in (CuBr)(As4S4) and by contrast in 2D layers in (CuBr)(As4S4). The 3:1 adduct (CuBr)3(As4Se4) is an absolute exception. Contrary to all other adducts, herein not only chalcogen atoms, but also arsenic atoms of the As4Q4 molecules are attached to the copper(I)-halide matrix. The latter consists of 1/∞[CuBr]-spiral chains, which are connected by [CuI]-dumbbells to ladders. If the syntheses of the CuX-As4Q4 adducts resulted in phase-pure materials, solid state UV/VIS spectra were measured. The observed absorption edges range from 549 nm to 686 nm, corresponding to an optical band gap between 2.26 eV and 1.81 eV. Thus all compounds are optical semiconductors.
Moreover, light-induced effects in compounds with realgar-like As4Q4 molecules have been investigated in the course of this work. The light experiments carried out on the adducts (CuI)3(As4S4)2, (CuI)3(As4Se4)2, (CuBr)(As4S4) and (HgI2)(As4S4) clearly show, that the packing of the molecules and their crystal chemical environment has a decisive influence on the behaviour when exposed to visible light. The exposure of (CuI)3(As4Q4)2 (Q = S, Se) caused no effects, because the coordination to the copper(I)-halide matrix leads to a stabilization of the r-type-As4Q4 molecules. By contrast, the interactions between the partial structures in the adducts (CuBr)(As4S4) and (HgI2)(As4S4) are distinctly weaker. For this reason, light-induced structural changes are observed in both cases. They are monitored by UV/VIS spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, X-ray powder and single crystal diffraction.
(CuI)(As2S3)2 and (CuI)2(As2Se3)3 are the hitherto first copper(I)-halide adducts with pnicogen chalcogenides, that are composed of neutral layers instead of molecules or polymers. In analogy to the layers in orpiment (As2S3) and laphamite (As2Se3), respectively, they consist of pyramidal AsQ3 units, which are connected to twelve-membered rings by common chalcogen atoms. Two new, hitherto unknown types of twelve-membered rings are observed. Both in (CuI)(As2S3)2 and in (CuI)2(As2Se3)3 two As2Q3 layers are linked via copper(I)-iodide to double layers.
In addition to these different copper(I)-halide adducts, the new gold(I)-iodide adduct (AuI)3(catena-P4Se5) has been synthesized and crystallographically characterized. Neutral catena-P4Se5 strands are the most important structural feature. The strands are composed of norbornananalogous P4Se3 units, which, contrary to catena-P4Se4, are connected via diselenium bridges. For this reason, it is the first crystallographically characterized polymeric phosphorus perselenide. Gold(I)-iodide is located between the strands in the form of isolated dumbbells. Relatively short Au-Au distances (~3 Å) indicate aurophilic interactions between the d10 cations. The strands coordinate exclusively via phosphorus atoms, which results in a linear coordination sphere for gold according to P-Au-I.
With AuPSe2 and CuAsSe2, two new binary coinage metal compounds with exceptional, hitherto unknown, isostructural 1/∞[PnSe2 1-] polyanions are presented. The detailed Niggli notation is 1/∞[PnSe2/2Se1/1 1-]. In AuPSe2 the polyanions run parallel to each other and are connected to 2D layers via Au+1. By contrast, the polyanions in CuAsSe2 are connected via Cu1+ to a 3D network. Though the structural analysis cleary shows, that CuAsSe2 crystallizes orthorhombically in the space group Pca21 (Nr. 29), the calculated powder diagram is very similar to „monoclinic“ CuAsSe2, which has been published by Blachnik and Kurz. For this reason it is suspected, that „monoclinic“ CuAsSe2 is orthorhombic in fact. Besides the cubic and the hexagonal modification it is the third modification of CuAsSe2.
The present work also makes a contribution to the chemistry of binary phosphorus sulfides and polysulfides. Like all the other phosphorus sulfides, g-P4S6 is composed of discrete cage-like molecules. Their molecular structure is formally derived from the P4 tetrahedron of white phosphorus by introducing four bridging and two terminal sulfur atoms. The molecular packing is strongly related to the cubic-closest packing of spheres, which is demonstrated with the help of a Bärnighausen tree. The compounds a-P2S7 and b-P2S7 are the very first crystallographically characterized phosphorus polysulfides. The use of anhydrous FeCl3 as a mineralizer establishes a new synthesis route and enables the formation of crystalline compounds. Contrary to the phosphorus sulfides, the phosphorus polysulfides do not consist of molecules, but of neutral catena-P2S7 strands featuring covalent S-S bonds. Neglecting minor deviations in the bond lengths and angles, the polymers in a-P2S7 and b-P2S7 are identical. The respective crystal structures differ only in the packing of the polymers. Whereas the a-modification shows a hexagonal (honeycomb) rod packing, the b-modification shows a tetragonal rod packing. 31P-MAS-NMR investigations prove the results of the X-ray single crystal structure analyses.
