Modern societies are more and more influenced by stress. The excessive stress results in illness.
Working in stressful environments, work overload and a lack of possibilities to relax can lead to emotional exhaustion, development of cynicism and reduced professional efficacy. This complex of symptoms is called burnout.
Those affected by this need special treatment and are not able to work. Therefore, burnout is not only a social problem, but it is also a growing economical factor that must not be underestimated.
Short stress leads to temporary changes of certain blood parameters, as studies could show. Do patients who worked longer under stressful circumstances and who belong evidently to a risk group to develop burnout have also altered blood parameters? Does this existence of inflammatory changes in the blood match with a special pattern type in the AVEM?
The aim of this thesis was to determine the answers to the questions asked above.
