This thesis analyzes to which extent the assumption of complementarity between household and business capital in a DSGE model with household production can achieve a better reproduction of investment dynamics for Germany and the United Kingdom. For both of these European countries as well as for the US household investment leads business investment. Fisher (2007) succeeds in reflecting this fact with a model calibrated for the US with time-to-build and complementarity of household and business capital. It turns out that this fact cannot be reproduced similarly with model specifications calibrated for Germany and the United Kingdom. Thus this result puts in question the extensive applicability of the concept of complementary capital stocks to improve modeling of the investment dynamics.
