Abstract (English)

Polar tip growth of the flowering plant pollen tube is crucial for double fertilization in higher plants. The molecular basis for tip growth in pollen tubes as well as in root hairs was studied as well as further aspects of double fertilization. Especially the role of the Armadillo Repeat Only gene family was studied in this context.

Das polares Spitzenwachstum des Pollenschlauchs der Blütenpflanzen ist essentiell für die doppelte Befruchtung in höheren Pflanzen. Die molekularen Grundlagen dieses Spitzenwachstums von Pollenschläuchen und Wurzelhaaren wurde neben anderen Gesichtspunkten der doppelten Befruchtung untersucht. Insbesondere wurde die Rolle der Armadillo Repeat Only Genfamilie in diesem Zusammenhang untersucht.
