Abstract (German)
In dieser Dissertation wird das Leben und Werk des Münchener Chirurgen und Sauerbruchschülers Prof. Dr. med. Max Lebsche vor dem Hintergrund der Geschichte der Chirurgie beleuchtet.
Nach der biographischen Darstellung seines Lebens wird auf Lebsches Engagement in Politik und Gesellschaft, seinen katholischen Glauben und vor allem auf sein Wirken als Arzt und Chirurg eingegangen.
Translation of the abstract (English)
In this thesis the life and accomplishments of the Munich surgeon Prof. Dr. med. Max Lebsche is discussed within the context of the history of surgery.
After a biographical study of his life the description of his involvement in politics and society, of his Catholic faith and particularly of his work as physician and surgeon, follows.
