Die Dissertation beschäftigt sich im Wesentlichen mit vier zueinander abgegrenzten Themengebieten, namentlich den Ammoniakaten von Alkalimetallfulleriden, den Kohlenhydratverbindungen und hier speziell den Wirt-Gast-Komplexen, den Reaktionsprodukten von Heptaphosphid- und Heptaarsenid-Polyanionen mit Acetylen und Diphenylacetylen und außerdem der Reaktion der Heptapentelide mit Metallkomplexen von Zink, Cadmium und Nickel. Das gemeinsame Merkmal ist die Synthese und die Kristallisation in flüssigem Ammoniak.

Der Teil, der sich mit der Chemie der Fulleride beschäftigt, setzt den Schwerpunkt auf die Synthese und Charakterisierung von fünf Verbindungen in denen C60-Anionen mit einer Ladung von 3– beziehungsweise 4– enthalten sind. Die Ladung von 4– wird nur in der Rubidium-Spezies erreicht. Es war möglich, strukturelle Details der Anionen bezüglich einer Jahn-Teller-artigen Verzerrung der sphäroiden Fulleride zu bestimmen.

Als ein Ergebnis der Darstellung und kristallographischen Charakterisierung von Cyclodextrin-Ammoniakaten und Wirt-Gast-Komplexen der Cyclodextrine konnte die Natur dieser Interkalationsverbindungen genauer bestimmt werden. Obwohl die Proben nicht frei von kristallographischen Problemen sind, erlaubte die hohe Ausbeute an kristallinem Material aus flüssigem Ammoniak die Selektion geeigneter Kristalle. Die Untersuchung dieser Interkalationsverbindungen ist entscheidend, da die in der Literatur diskutierten Modelle hauptsächlich auf spektroskopischen Daten basieren.

Organo-Zintl-Verbindungen und speziell die Reaktionsprodukte der Heptapentelidanionen mit Acetylen und Diphenylacetylen weisen ein umfangreiches synthetisches Potential auf. In dieser Arbeit werden die Synthese und kristallographische Charakterisierung der 1,2,3-Tripnictolide und die Additionsprodukte der Heptaphosphid- und Heptaarsenidkäfige mit Diphenylacetylen diskutiert. Des Weiteren werden die elektronische Struktur und die Bindungssituation auf Basis von DFT-Rechnungen und der Anwendung der Elektronenlokalisierungsfunktion (ELF) beschrieben.

Die Synthese von neuen Metallkomplexen mit Heptapentelidliganden in flüssigem Ammoniak wird im vierten Teil der Arbeit diskutiert. Die Komplexe beinhalten die Gruppe-12-Metalle Zink und Cadmium und ferner Nickel. Zusätzlich zur kristallographischen Beschreibung der Strukturen wurden DFT-Rechnungen zur Charakterisierung der elektronischen Struktur und der Bindungssituation durchgeführt.

Translation of the abstract (English)

The dissertation focuses predominantly on four distinct subject areas, namely the ammoniates of alkaline metal fullerides, carbohydrate compounds with special focus on beta-cyclodextrine host-guest complexes, the reaction products of heptaphosphide and heptaarsenide polyanions with acetylene and diphenylacetylene as well as the reaction of heptapentelides with metal complexes of zinc, cadmium and nickel. The common feature is the synthesis and the crystallization in liquid ammonia.

The part dealing with the chemistry of fullerides emphasizes the synthesis and characterization of five compounds in which C60 anions are present with a charge of 3– and 4–, respectively. The charge of 4– is only reached in the rubidium species. It was possible to determine structural details of the anions with respect to a Jahn-Teller like distortion of the spherical fullerides.

As a result of the synthesis and crystallographic characterization of cyclodextrine ammoniates and host-guest complexes of cyclodextrines the nature of these intercalation compounds is determined in a more precise way. Although the samples are not free from crystallographic difficulties, the high yield of material obtained from ammonia allowed the selection of suitable crystals. The investigation of these intercalation compounds is crucial as the models discussed in the literature are mainly based on spectroscopic data.

Organo Zintl compounds and especially the products of the reaction of heptapentelide anions with acetylene and diphenylacetylene exhibit extensive synthetic potential. In this work the synthesis and crystallographic characterization of 1,2,3-tripnictolides as well as the addition products of heptaphosphide and heptaarsenide cages with diphenylacetylene are discussed. Furthermore, the electronic structure and bonding situation is described on the basis of DFT calculations and the application of the electron localization function (ELF).

The synthesis of new metal complexes with heptapentelide ligands in liquid ammonia is discussed in the fourth part of the thesis. The complexes are containing the group 12 metals zinc and cadmium as well as nickel. In addition to the crystallographic description of the structures DFT calculations were carried out to describe the electronic structure and the bonding situation in the anionic complexes.
