Die antimikrobielle photodynamische Therapie (aPDT) stellt eine neue Alternative für die Behandlung von Candida-Infektionen dar. Es existieren nämlich nur wenige antimykotische Medikamente, die auch im klinischen Gebrauch sind, wie beispielsweise Imidazol und Miconazol.
