Ziel: Der englische Originalfragebogen Ureteral Stent Symptom Questionnaire (USSQ) wurde in die deutsche Sprache übersetzt und an Patienten mit einliegender Harnleiterschiene validiert.
Material und Methoden: Der deutschsprachige USSQ sowie die bereits validierten Fragebögen ähnlicher Themenkomplexe wie der Short Form Health Survey (SF-36 v2), International Prostate Symptom Score (IPSS, nur männliche Patienten) und International Consultation on Incontinence Questionnaire (ICIQ, nur weibliche Patienten) wurden von 101 Patienten (68,3% männlich, 31,7% weiblich, durchschnittlich 51,96 Jahre) mit einliegender Harnleiterschiene 1 und 2-4 Wochen nach Einlage der Harnleiterschiene sowie 4 Wochen nach Entfernung der Harnleiterschiene bearbeitet, um die psychometrischen Eigenschaften des USSQ zu untersuchen.
Ergebnisse: Die deutsche Version des USSQ zeigte eine gute interne Konsistenz (Cronbach`s α = 0.72 -0.88) sowie Test-Retest-Reliabilität (Intraclass Korrelationskoeffizient [ICC] =0.81 – 0.92). Im Rahmen der Untersuchung einzelner Domänen des USSQ zueinander, waren zudem signifikante Korrelationen zwischen den einzelnen Domänen des USSQ nachweisbar, was auf eine ausgeprägte konzeptuelle Verwandtschaft der verschiedenen Domänen des Fragebogens hinweist. Bezüglich der konvergenten Validität zeigte sich außer in den Domänen Miktionsbeschwerden und allgemeine Lebensqualität eine hohe Korrelation der USSQ Domänen mit den korrespondierenden Items bereits validierter Fragebögen. Eine signifikante Änderungssensitivität (sensitivity to change) war in allen USSQ Domänen nachweisbar(p ≤ 0.001).
Schlussfolgerung: Die deutschsprachige Version des USSQ ist ein verlässliches und robustes Instrument zur Evaluierung von Harnleiterschienen-assoziierten Beschwerden männlicher und weiblicher Patienten.

Translation of the abstract (English)

Purpose: We developed and validated the German version of the Ureteral Stent Symptoms Questionnaire (USSQ) for male and female patients with indwelling ureteral stents.
Methods: The German version of the USSQ was developed following a well-established multi-step process. A total of 190 patients with indwelling ureteral stents were asked to complete the German USSQ as well as the validated questionnaires International Prostate Symptom Score (IPSS) or International Consultation on Incontinence Questionnaire (ICIQ) and the Short Form (36) Health Survey (SF-36). Patients completed questionnaires at 1 and 2-4 weeks after stent insertion and 4 weeks after stent removal. Statistical analyses were performed to assess the psychometric properties of the questionnaire.
Results: A total of 101 patients were suitable for analysis. The German version of the USSQ showed good internal consistency (Cronbach`s α = .72 - .88) and test-retest reliability (Intraclass Correlation Coefficient [ICC] = .81 – .92). Inter-domain associations within the USSQ predominantly showed substantial correlations between the different USSQ domains indicating a high conceptual relationship of the domains. Except from Urinary Symptoms and General Quality of Life, convergent validity of all USSQ domains correlated substantially with the corresponding items of the validated questionnaires. Significant sensitivity to change (p ≤ 0.001) was found for all USSQ sub-scores.
Conclusions: The developed German version of the USSQ proved to be a reliable and robust instrument for the evaluation of ureteral stent-associated morbidity for both male and female patients.
