Abstract

Hypothesis: In contrast to anionic and nonionic amphiphilic substances, bio-based cationic ones are very rare. Cationic amphiphiles are mostly based on quaternary ammonium, pyridinium or imidazolium groups that are either badly biodegradable or have toxic residues even after degradation.
