Abstract

As a result of the rapid innovation cycles in the field of electronic media, the information competency of students is constantly being tested from anew. Six years after the national »SteFI« study, a state-wide study of the use of information and training courses at Bavarian colleges and universities was conducted by the Task Force on Information Competency within the Bavarian Library Network (BVB). The results are based on an online survey among over 13,000 students at nine universities and five technical colleges during the winter semester 2006-07. It reveals deficits both in the awareness of media in specific disciplines and also in research techniques. In this article the current library user programs are compared with the skills, needs and wishes of the students in order to provide a basis for the development of basic strategies for developing information competency at colleges and universities.

Die schnellen Innovationszyklen bei den elektronischen Medienstellen die Informationskompetenz der Studierenden immer wieder neu auf den Prüfstand. Sechs Jahre nach der SteFI-Studie untersucht eine landesweite Studie der AG Informationskompetenzim Bibliotheksverbund Bayern die Nutzung des Informations- und Schulungsangebots an den bayerischen Hochschulen. Die Ergebnisse der Studie beruhen auf einer Online-Umfrage, an der sich im Wintersemester 2006/07 mehr als 13.000 Studierende an neun Universitäten und fünf Fachhochschulen beteiligt haben. Defizite sind sowohl im Bereich der Kenntnis fachspezifischer Medien als auch bei den Recherchetechniken vorhanden. Dieser Beitrag stellt die aktuellen Angebote der Bibliotheken den Fähigkeiten, Anforderungen und Wünschen der Studierenden gegenüber. Er dient als Grundlage für die Entwicklung grundlegender Strategien zurVermittlung von Informationskompetenz an Hochschulen.
