Abstract (English)

In this work, spin related processes in graphene are studied and discussed. The first part addresses the still open question of which is the dominating mechanism for spin relaxation in graphene, by performing precise measurements of the spin lifetime anisotropy. In addition to oblique spin precession, a Hanle experiment is presented where the electron spins precess around either a magnetic field perpendicular to the graphene plane or around an in-plane field. A small but distinct anisotropy is observed that can be explained by the combined action of isotropic mechanisms, such as relaxation by the contacts and resonant scattering by magnetic impurities, and an anisotropic Rashba spin-orbit based mechanism.
The second part of this work is the report of a newly discovered property of a Co/MgO/graphene tunnel contact, where the spin polarization of the tunnel current can be tuned and even inverted by the applied current bias and back gate voltage. By using this contact as a spin injector in a non-local spin valve geometry, the non-local voltage can be switched on or off by the back gate. In this configuration the device acts as a spintransistor.

Diese Arbeit befasst sich mit Spin-Phänomenen in Graphen. Im ersten Teil wird der noch offenen Frage nachgegangen, welches der dominierende Prozess für Spin-Relaxation in Graphen ist. Hierfür wurde die Anisotropie der Spin-Lebenszeit möglichst genau gemessen. Es wurde das Experiment „schräge Spin-Präzession“ durchgeführt sowie ein weiteres Hanle Experiment vorgestellt, bei dem die Elektronen Spins zum einen in einem Magnetfeld lotrecht zum Graphen präzidieren, als auch in Einem Feld parallel zur Graphen Ebene. Es konnte dabei eine kleine aber deutliche Anisotropie in der Spin-Relaxation gemessen werden, die durch ein Zusammenwirken von isotropen und anisotropne Relaxationsprozessen erklärt werden kann. Die isotropen Prozesse sind hierbei die Spin-Relaxation durch die Kontakte sowie resonantes Streuen an magnetischen Störstellen, der anisotrope Prozess ist die Rashba Spin-Orbit Interaktion.
Im zweiten Teil der Arbeit wird über eine neu entdeckte Eigenschaft von Co/MgO/Graphen Tunnelkontakten berichtet. In diesen Kontakten ist es möglich durch Variation der angelegten Spannung und des Backgate die Spinpolarisation des Tunnelstroms zu steuern und sogar umzukehren. Wird ein solcher Kontakt als Spininjektor in einer nicht-lokalen Spinventil Geometrie eingesetzt, lässt sich mit Hilfe des Backgate die nicht-lokale Spannung an- und ausschalten. Die Schaltung kann somit als Spintransistor bezeichnet werden.
