Daten zur Rolle des IL-3 bei Autoimmunerkrankungen sind eher spärlich und beschränken sich meist auf Mausmodelle. Die vorliegende Arbeit beleuchtet die Expression dieses Zytokins bei Patienten mit Systemischen Lupus erythematodes, Psoriasis-Arthritis und Granulomatose mit Polyangiitis. Es konnte gezeigt werden, dass die IL-3 Konzentration bei den erkrankten Personen signifikant höher ist im Vergleich zur Kontrollgruppe. Als Hauptproduzenten konnten die CD8+ T-Zellen identifiziert werden. Ausnahme stellten hier die Patienten mit GPA dar, bei denen auch die CD4+ T-Zellen einen wichtigen Beitrag zur IL-3 Produktion leisten.
Diese Arbeit zeigt die Relevanz von IL-3 in Hinblick auf drei verschiedene Erkrankungen des rheumatischen Formenkreises. Die Hemmung des Zytokins könnte somit einen potentiellen Angriffspunkt in der Therapie dieser Erkrankungen darstellen.

Little is known about the expression of IL-3 in autoimmune diseases and most of the data is limited to mouse models. The present work enlightens the role of IL-3 in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus, Psoriasis arthritis and granulomatosis with polyangiitis. It could be shown that IL-3 levels in patients are significantly higher compared with the healthy control group. In this study CD8+ T cells were the main producers of IL-3, except for patients with GPA. Here CD4+ T cells seem to be an important IL-3 source too.
This work shows the relevance of IL-3 regarding three different rheumatic diseases. Therefore, the blockade of this cytokine could be a potential target in the treatment of these diseases.
