The central aim of this study is to evaluate the survival time and quality of life of patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) in stage IV with possible early palliative care. A distinction is made between two concepts: some of the patients receive oncological care in accordance with the indications and guidelines, the other part of the patients is additionally accompanied by palliative care from the time the diagnosis is made. The present study examines whether there are differences in the two concepts with regard to survival time and quality of life. The focus is on the following hypotheses: Early palliative care increases the patient's survival time on average. Through the influence of palliative care, a more stable and better quality of life can be guaranteed over the course of the disease.
