Background: Extracorporeal photopheresis (ECP) is an effective immunomodulatory therapy for various diseases. Autologous leukocytes are collected, photoactivated with a photosensitizer (8-methoxypsoralen, 8-MOP) and UVA light, and subsequently reinfused back to the patient.
