Zusammenfassung
Diabetic macular edema (DME) is responsible for the majority of visual loss in diabetic patients. A reduction of visual acuity due to DME may occur even in the mild non-proliferative stage of diabetic retinopathy (DR). The chronic course of diabetic maculopathy requires intensive clinical monitoring over a long period of time. This article provides an overview of the diagnostic and therapeutic management in the presence of DME.
