In this dissertation, an automated pipeline for the prediction of liver function based on MRI images was developed and evaluated using state-of-the-art deep learning and machine learning approaches.
The results show that an accurate automated segmentation of the liver and related structures is possible. The extracted MRI features allow a reliable prediction of liver function scores comparable to conventional clinical methods.
The work demonstrates the potential of AI-assisted analysis of MRI data for non-invasive and accurate assessment of liver function. The developed methods could improve clinical decision making in hepatology and reduce invasive procedures.
Overall, this dissertation makes an important contribution to the development of AI-based image analysis methods in radiology and shows promising possibilities for improved non-invasive diagnostics of liver diseases.
