Abstract

For paramagnetic mols. subjected to a uniform magnetic field, the Zeeman interaction produces widely tunable, aligned pendular states in which the mol. magnetic dipole librates about the field direction. The authors demonstrate such alignment by observing spectroscopic transitions at ~ 1 T involving the A3P1 excited state of ICl, and ext. characteristic pendular eigen properties that arise from ...
