Abstract

LOV (light-oxygen-voltoge-sensitive) domains comprise the lightsensitive parts of many blue light photoreceptor proteins. Photoexcitation of the chromophore flavin mononucleotide (FMN) in these LOV domains leads to formation of a covalent adduct between FMN and a cysteine residue.
