Abstract

Poly(beta-L-malate) (PMLA) has been reported as an unconventional, physiologically important biopolymer in plasmodia of myxomycetes, and has been proposed to function in the storage and transport of nuclear proteins by mimicking the phospho(deoxy)ribose backbone of nucleic acids.
