Abstract

The two-photon absorption induced fluorescence in a methanolic rhodamine 6G solution is used to measure the pulse duration of a cw femtosecond Kerr-lens mode-locked Ti:sapphire laser by a Michelson-interferometer-type autocorrelator arrangement. Interference-free autocorrelation traces are obtained by correlating perpendicular polarized pulses. The two-photon polarization parameter of rhodamine 6G is determined by contrast ratio measurement. The time resolution limits are discussed.
