Venöse Malformationen sind ein seltenes Krankheitsbild und gehören zu den vaskulären Anomalien. In dieser retrospektiven Arbeit wurde der klinische Langzeitverlauf von 105 Patienten/Patientinnen mit venösen Gefäßmalformationen unter besonderem Fokus auf mögliche Einfluss- und Triggerfaktoren auf die Erst- und Rezidivsymptomatik evaluiert. Die häufigsten Erstsymptome und Symptome im Langzeitverlauf waren kutane Dyskolorationen, Schwellung und Schmerzen. Ferner konnte gezeigt werden, dass die Symptomatik von Volumen, Lage und Lokalisation der Läsion abhängig war. Die in dieser Arbeit ermittelte verzögerte Diagnosestellung bestätigen die Notwendigkeit spezialisierter Zentren, um die Betroffenen möglichst frühzeitig adäquaten und bedarfsadaptierten Therapiemaßnahmen zuzuführen. Insgesamt führten mehr hormonelle als physikalische Einflussfaktoren zu einem Symptombeginn oder -progress. Patienten/Patientinnen müssen über mögliche Einfluss- und Triggerfaktoren, die zu einem Progress der Erkrankung führen können hingewiesen und beraten werden. Allerdings bedarf es weiterer Studien zur Identifikation reproduzierbarer Prognosemarker, um die klinische Versorgung betroffener Patienten/Patientinnen zu optimieren.

Venous malformations are rare and can be classified as vascular anomalies. In this retrospective study the clinical long-term course of 105 patients with venous vascular malformations was evaluated, with a special focus on potential influencing and triggering factors related to the initial and recurrent symptoms. The most common initial symptoms and symptoms over the long-term course were cutaneous discoloration, swelling, and pain. Furthermore, it was shown that the symptoms were dependent on the volume, location, and localization of the lesions. The delayed diagnosis identified in this study confirms the need for specialized centers to provide affected individuals with appropriate and tailored therapeutic measures as early as possible. Overall, more hormonal than physical factors led to the onset or progression of symptoms. Patients must be informed and counseled about potential influencing and triggering factors that could lead to disease progression. However, further studies are needed to identify reproducible prognostic markers in order to optimize the clinical care of affected patients.
