| Keywords | Digital Transformation, Cloud Computing, Information Security Management, Public Administrations, Cybersecurity, GermanyThe digital transformation of public administration is becoming increasingly important for Europe’s compet- itiveness. Cloud services are being used more and more to manage this transformation. However, public administration has long ignored this paradigm, resulting in major challenges to securely managing cloud so- lutions. Meanwhile, the number of successful cyberattacks on IT infrastructure in this sector has increased significantly in recent months. This empirical study examines the current state of public cloud services and the related information security challenges and responsibilities of over 500 local German governments. Based on these findings, recommendations are made to improve the security of public cloud services in this domain. | ||||||
