Abstract (English)
This dissertation presents the development of photochemical methods for direct C–H fluorination and skeletal editing of nitrogen-containing heterocycles. Four fluorination projects are described: the design of a novel benzoate-based photosensitizer, the discovery of Selectfluor®-derived reagents that facilitate fluorination without the need for photocatalysts, the mechanistic investigation of ...
This dissertation presents the development of photochemical methods for direct C–H fluorination and skeletal editing of nitrogen-containing heterocycles. Four fluorination projects are described: the design of a novel benzoate-based photosensitizer, the discovery of Selectfluor®-derived reagents that facilitate fluorination without the need for photocatalysts, the mechanistic investigation of non-catalytic fluorination pathways, and an unsuccessful attempt at enantioselective fluorination using amino acid additives. The final chapter explores a ring contraction methodology that transforms six-membered N-heterocycles into five-membered analogs through a photochemical strategy. The methods developed in this work demonstrate operational simplicity, functional group tolerance, and the potential for scalability in both batch and flow systems. The overall goal of this thesis was to develop new approaches that enable efficient and practical access to fluorinated and structurally modified building blocks, which are valuable in the synthesis of biologically active compounds.
