Measurements of action potentials and stationary voltage-current characteristics on Ranvier nodes of the isolated nervus ischiadicus of Rana esculenta showed that N-(L-N,N-dimethylphenylalanyl)-D-ephedrine [2480-20-8] and N-(D-N,N-dimethylphenylalanyl)-L-ephedrine [7278-68-4] decreased the Na [7440-23-5] cond. of the nodes. The 2 enantiomers of the local anesthetic had approx. the same activity.
