The vitreous body represents the main compartment of the eye. This unique tissue is free of cells in its centre, however, in the cortex of the vitreous body and in the vitreous base, there are a sparse number of cells, designated as hyalocytes. Der Glaskörper, das größte Kompartiment des Auges, stellt ein einzigartiges Gewebe dar, das im Zentrum zellfrei ist, jedoch im Randbereich sowie in der Nähe des Ziliarkörpers eine geringe Anzahl an Zellen, sogenannte Hyalozyten, enthält.
