Das Ziel dieser Arbeit bestand darin, die Komposition und Struktur ribosomalen Chromatins von S. cerevisiae in vivo zu untersuchen. In einer logarithmisch wachsenden Hefezelle wird etwa die Hälfte der ~150 rRNA Gene aktiv von der RNA Polymerase I (Pol I) transkribiert (offene Chromatinform), die andere Hälfte ist inaktiv und nukleosomal organisiert (geschlossene Chromatinform). Translation of the abstract (English)

In a single yeast cell there are approximately 150 rDNA gene copies arranged in a head to tail configuration on chromosome XII. During logarithmic growth only about half of the rDNA genes are actively transcribed by RNA Polymerase I whereas the other half is silenced.
