Das Ziel dieser Arbeit bestand darin, die Komposition und Struktur ribosomalen Chromatins von S. cerevisiae in vivo zu untersuchen. In a single yeast cell there are approximately 150 rDNA gene copies arranged in a head to tail configuration on chromosome XII. During logarithmic growth only about half of the rDNA genes are actively transcribed by RNA Polymerase I whereas the other half is silenced.
