Beta-Defensine sind eine Familie kleiner, kationischer und amphiphiler Peptide mit einem Molekulargewicht von ca. 3-6 kDa. Sie werden hauptsächlich von Epithelzellen exprimiert und weisen antimikrobielle Aktivität gegen Bakterien, Viren und Pilze auf. Translation of the abstract (English)

Beta-defensins form a family of small, cationic and amphiphilic polypeptides with a molecular weight of 3-6 kDa, which is mainly expressed by epithelial cells. They have antimicrobial activity against bacteria, some enveloped viruses and fungi.
