Abstract
The metathesis reaction of [W2(OAr)6] (Ar=2,6-Me2C6H3) with tBuCP leads to the formation of a complex containing the first bent bridging P1 ligand with the coordination number 2 (see structure, atom P2). This mode of coordination was previously exclusively found for nitrogen and was unknown for the heavier homologues. The lone pair of electrons of the phosphorus ligand coordinates Lewis acidic M(CO)5 fragments (M=Cr, W).
