Zusammenfassung
In the hexagonal Cs₂[Pt(CN)₄]•H₂O compound the [Pt(CN)₄]²⁻ complex ions are arranged forming a helix. Under UV excitation the crystals strongly emit light of different polarization. It is possible to correlate the emission peak energies to the Pt-Pt distance of adjacent complexes in the helix and to determine the helix radius just from these data and the lattice constant c.
