Abstract

The hormones of the renin angiotensin aldosterone system were measured during regular haemodialysis with acetate or bicarbonate at dialysate sodium concentrations of 135, 140, 145, and 150 mmol/l. Plasma renin activity and aldosterone concentration were higher during acetate haemodialysis than during bicarbonate haemodialysis.
