Zusammenfassung
A particulate enzyme preparation, isolated fromin vitro cultivatedLilium testaceum bulbs, was shown to catalyse the biosynthesis of a water-soluble β-1,4-glucomannan with aMr of 20 000. GDP[14C] mannose and GDP[14C] glucose were used as substrates for glucomannan biosynthesis. The incorporation of[14C] mannose and/or [14C] glucose into the polymer was significantly stimulated by lowMr glucomannan (3500). The isolated membrane preparation also exhibited GDP-mannose/-glucose-epimerase activity.
